Preparing the house and decorating it for the Christmas holidays is all an art.  Decorating it with style is not easy as many decisions need to be made in terms of the placement of things and ornaments.  But if you follow our decorating advice, we are sure you will have a picture-perfect home.  The spirit of Christmas will live in all parts of your home.

The basic thing for successful Christmas decorating is to follow the style of your house.  That is to say, your furniture, your walls follow some guidelines: of color, style, etc.  Your decorations should follow along the same lines. For example, if the colors of your house go from beiges to greens, a decoration of reds and greens would be dominant.  As we say, this is probably the basis of Christmas decoration.  It is a question of balance.

If your dining room is big and the tree seems to be abandoned in a corner, what you can do is place ornaments in the style of a Christmas tree (branches, flower arrangements, etc.) around the house, decorating them in the style of the tree. 

Speaking of the Christmas tree.  Natural trees are grandiose and give a touch of magnificence to the decoration.  You should try to make your artificial tree look like a natural one: Try tying cedar branches to your artificial tree, these will give it a natural touch.  You can also use natural adornments such as pineapples, berries, etc.

The Nativity is also a typical Christmas decoration.  But often times we give it little significance in our decor.  And it shouldn't be this way.  Place the Nativity close to the tree, on a table next to the tree, and for the figures, place them on a blanket of cedar leaves instead of on a tapestry.  You will see the effect is spectacular.

There are always corners of the house that can be difficult to decorate, for lack of space or whatever.  Nothing is simpler than using a Poinsettia plant.  This plants creates an incredible Christmas atmosphere.  Ferns can also work.  Also, they are more original that Poinsettias so they will be astonishing and attractive at the same time. If not, you can also use a smaller Christmas tree.  As long as it is not very busy.  These small objects we have talked about can give you exceptional results.

We have talked about busyness.  And that is one important aspect to keep in mind.  You cannot fill the house too much as it will not be pleasing to the eye.  An excess of embellishments can ruin your Christmas decor.
