In recent years, one of the most booming trends in interior design and decoration is Orientalism.  It is the spirit of minimalistic, simple and refined decor.  We should clarify before beginning the article that a Zen environment is not easy to achieve, but when you reach it, your life takes on new meaning, a new dimension. 

The Zen decorative trend allows you to create your simple universe, no frills, but very real, relaxed, rested and harmonious.  To achieve a Zen atmosphere, you cannot use too many decorative objects, as these will hinder the peace and calm of the ambiance.  The surrounding colors should be natural, sweet colors (beige, gray...), enhanced by touches of more lively colors (red tones are a very good choice).

Terracotta containers for flowers (principally orchids) can also help you to achieve the desired Zen.  An incense dispenser that spreads sweet smells (choose simple perfumes, like pine or cedar).  The wall decoration can be done with some Japanese prints or with charcoal drawings.  Candles and paper lanterns will also go phenomenally with your decor.

Zen furniture is also important. But, what is a Zen piece of furniture?  Well, it is minimalistic, refined furniture with straight lines.  Finally, don't forget the curtains as they are a very important element for a Zen decor.  Curtains condition the brightness of the room and the tone of the colors.
